Sodium sulfide (Na2S), also known as smelly alkali, sulphide stone, sodium sulfide, smelly soda. Anhydrous pure products are equiaxed white crystals. Corrosive and deliquescent; Soluble in water, the solution is alkaline; Acid decomposition produces hydrogen sulfide; Easy to oxidize in air. Industrial products contain different water of crystallization (Na2S•xH2O), generally containing about 60% sodium sulfide, because of a small amount of impurities are usually light yellow or light pink. Products are in block, flake and granular form.
