Liquid caustic soda (Lye) is a corrosive chemical. In the traditional sense, Lye refers to the mixed solution of alkaline metal hydroxide (mainly composed of potassium carbonate) obtained by leaching plant ash method, or the solution produced by highly dissolving strong alkali in water. Although “lye” refers to any member of a wide range of aqueous solutions of metal hydroxides academically, “lye” usually refers to an alternative name for aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. Under normal conditions (around 25℃ and 298K), the PH value of lye is generally greater than 7.

Application:
Food use:Alkaline liquor can be used to pickle many kinds of food, such as traditional Nordic alkaline pickled fish, pickled olives, etc., and it can also be used to make noodles in some cases.
Soap making:Sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide can be used to make soap.
Household use :The detergent containing lye also has strong cleaning and decontamination function. Alkaline liquor can hydrolyze and dissolve fat through its alkalinity, producing water-soluble residues that can be easily removed by washing, thus achieving the purpose of cleaning.
