Oxalic acid is the simplest dicarboxylic acid, also known as oxalic acid. It is colorless and transparent crystal at room temperature. It usually contains two molecules of crystal water. When heated to 100.1 ºC, it loses crystal water and becomes anhydrous oxalic acid. It is hygroscopic, easily soluble in ethanol, water and slightly soluble in ether.

Application:
1.Oxalic acid is mainly used as a reducing agent and a bleaching agent for the production of antibiotics and borneol drugs, as well as solvents for extracting rare metals, dye reducing agents, tanning agents and the like.Used for metal surface cleaning and treatment, rare earth element extraction, textile printing and dyeing, leather processing, catalyst preparation, etc.
2. As a reducing agent
The plastics industry is used to produce polyvinyl chloride, aminoplasts, urea-formaldehydes, lacquers, and the like.
The dye industry is used to make salt-based greens and the like.
The printing and dyeing industry can replace acetic acid and be used as a coloring aid and bleaching agent for pigment dyes.
3. As a mordant
Lanthanum oxalate can be used as a mordant, and ammonium iron oxalate is an agent for printing blueprints.
